Canine Welfare & Rehabilitation: Thursday and Friday, October 6-7, 2011
Canine Aggression: Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9, 2011
9am to 5pm each day
This is an in-depth course that is of particular interest to anyone involved in rescue work. This course has been run as an in-house teaching course by most of the leading animal charities and covers dog behavior as applicable to adoption centers.
It gives a fascinating insight into applied canine behavior as it handles some of the issues facing rescue centers. Due to legal reasons it is becoming increasingly necessary for staff to temperament test dogs prior to homing. Most of the temperament tests used in this country and now adopted by UFAW (Universities Federation for Animal Welfare) were pioneered by John Rogerson. So who better to teach you these techniques?
The course also focuses on the rehabilitation of problem dogs. (Priority registration will be given to all those who work for a shelter or rescue.)
Canine Aggresion is a course that picks up where other courses stop. John talks about dog to dog aggression, dog to people aggression, the causes, effects, and solutions.
This is not a course for beginners as the problems of aggression are covered in some depth. A good background in practical handling and training would be helpful prior to attending this course.
Although designed as a standalone course, it is ideally suited to those students who have experience in training and handling difficult dogs.
Today's trainers are faced with aggression-related issues the most. Don't miss the chance to hear what John has to say about these issues. No other trainer looks at aggression the same way.
John speaks a few minutes on "The Last Mongrel in Britain".

Lodging:
I have reserved a block of rooms at the La Quinta Inn Denver Golden. Rates are $71.10/night for 1 or 2 people, and $76.50/night for 3 or 4 people. If you are interested in reserving a room, please let me know and I will email you the group reservation number once your registration has been processed.
If that is more than you want to pay, there is a Howard Johnson Hotel very near as well. The average rate there is between $50 and $60 per night. Please know, however, that I have never had a guest stay here so am not sure of the quality or customer service.
Both of these hotels are 5 minutes from the facility, at the most.
